Hey guys, here's an update on the ecommerce options for druapl since our seminar.

There are three main choices when considering ecommerce options in drupal:

Drupal E-Commerce module/package: as mentioned in our seminar, this is considered the 'grand-daddy' of ecommerce options for drupal, it essentially give you the tools to build an ecommerce infrastructure from the ground up on your site.

This package offers almost all imaginable customizable options, including product taxonomy and order/purchase options and tracking.
That said, this package can prove clumsy to use for small business ventures as it requires many pre-requsite modules including views, rules, views bulk operations (and its pre-requisites), PayPal (and all its prerequisites), and chaos tools suite to become even functional.

Ubercart module: developed from the E-Commerce package, the Ubercart module provides an easy to use and easy to install install module conveniently bundled into one.
Currently, due to Ubercart's much better developed features and usability, there is little reason to use Drupal E-Commerce over Ubercart for basic business ventures requiring no overt customization.

Drupal Commerce: the offspring of Ubercart, and considered the next generation of Drupal E-Commerce, this is considered the next step in ecommerce options in Drupal. Developers are focusing their energy in making Drupal Commerce more usable like Ubercart. This is perhaps an option for users of Ubercart who are looking for more customizations, but using the tools provided by Drupal Commerce to built it themselves.

Of course, these are not the only options available, merely some of the most popular choices, feel free to explore other suitable options, such as Toro had done for Drupal Amazon.
